partners of the firm all hold engineering or other scientific qualifications
of degree standard across a broad range of disciplines. They come from a
variety of backgrounds in industry, in the Patent Office and in private
practice and so provide the firm with wide technical and commercial
experience. Technical specialisations within the firm include electrical and
electronic engineering, laser technology, mechanical engineering, automobile
engineering, computer hardware and software, physics, chemistry, plastics
technology, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and textiles. The firm has a substantial trade mark group. Members of the group hold committee positions in the International Trade Mark Association. The group are also contributors to Sweet & Maxwell's European Trade Mark Litigation Handbook. Members of the firm belong to the European Patent Institute, the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys and the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys, and hold the professional qualifications of these Institutes. The firm also belongs to the International Association for the Protection of Industrial Property, the International Trade Mark Association and the Licensing Executive Society. Members of the firm belong to Marques (The European Brand Owners Association), and other IP organisations such as FICPI and AIPPI. The clientele of the firm is worldwide and spread fairly evenly among multi-national companies, large, medium and small firms and individual inventors.
